Tanzanian music sensation Ray –C, will set her base in Kenya, for the conceivable future. She revealed while
appearing on the popular Milele FM afternoon show’ Bangaiza’ on Tuesday, March 29th. She hopes to collaborate with notable Kenyan musicians such as Wahu, Amani, Jua Cali, P-Unit among others. Ray-C has been in the news lately as a result of business disagreements on a contract worth kshs.5 million. Tanzanian musicians have invaded Kenyan turf, and this is expected to heat the competition in the local music scene. On a comparative analysis, Tanzanian musicians seem to derive more revenue from their music as opposed to their Kenyan counterparts. This is partly as a result of more album sales that is enhanced by the fiercely loyal music fans. In addition, piracy in Kenya is at an all time high and despite efforts by the Copyright authorities in Kenya to curb the menace, the vice is not about to stop anytime soon. Many Kenyans will gladly buy pirated cheap pirated versions of their music idols, as the music idols suffer in penury. Even Ugandan musicians such as Chameleon seem to generate more revenue from their music than their Kenyan counterparts.
